Stimulant-free weight-management aid. An all-natural, plant-based supplement. How does Hoodia Gordonii work? Hoodia gordonii is a plant found in the Kalahari Desert
of South Africa and it has been traditionally used by tribes for thousands of years to help stave off hunger while on long hunting expeditions. This supplement works by helping to "trick" your brain into thinking you've eaten, helping you feel fuller.
Yours in good health,
DeWayne H. Strickland
When I used to work for a well-known nutrition store, I would constantly get asked, "what are the best weight loss supplements?" Everyone that came in was looking for that magic pill, to help them burn the fat off their bodies. There is no magic pill, but there is a super
combination of methods and herbs for effective weight loss results.
You can eat a healthy diet and perform regular physical exercise for optimum results, but your secret weapon may be using herbs to jump-start your weight-loss program. Let's look at the herbal powerhouses that may help you lose those nasty pounds!
7. Psyllium: This herb is marketed all over TV as a gentle bulking laxative. I would steer
clear of most TV commercial products and look for reputable herbal sources. I have
successfully used this herb to move waste out of my body. This is a mighty bulking
laxative and when mixed with water you can see the mucilage expand and build mass.
Be careful if you mix it with water that you do not choke on the psyllium. If you are
uncomfortable with drinking the herb mixture, you may want to use it in vegan capsules.
8. Cayenne Pepper: Researchers at Oxford Polytechnic in England have found that some
spicy foods, including chile peppers, boost the body's metabolic rate, which may lead to
weight loss. The twelve volunteers in their 1986 study ate identical 766-calorie meals.
On one day, three grams each of chile powder and mustard were added to their meals;
on the next day, nothing was added. On the days that the extra spices were added to
their meals, participants burned from four to seventy-six additional calories, with an
average of 45 calories burned. The above excerpt from the book "The Healing Powers
of Chile Peppers", by Dave DeWitt, Melissa T. Stock, and Kellye Hunter.
Cayenne pepper really gets things moving and it improves the effectiveness of other
herbs! You can put some hot peppers in your carrot juice (use a juice machine) or you
can add it to your favorite foods. Remember to add a small amount of hot peppers to
start. If your really adventurous, you can use small amounts of Habanero pepper. So
start heating up your life today and shed off those appalling pounds!
9. Water: Water should not be overlooked, because it's necessary for your body to
survive. Staying hydrated aids with curbing your appetite, digestion, and flushes out
metabolic waste. It is wise to drink from 6 to 8 glasses of water everyday.
Using quality herbal products for weight loss is great, but if you don't eat healthy and work out on a regular basis, you may never see the desired results. Go for a 30 minute walk or a nature trail hike! Walking is the easiest exercise and I love doing it! If I can not walk outside I will use my indoor treadmill. Weight loss herbs are a great addition to your fat loss program and with exercise, you may see those pounds began to disappear.
1. Garcinia Cambogia: This herb is an amazing metabolic stimulant and appetite
suppressant. Garcinia cambogia has a long history of use in Ayurveda for obesity due to
its appetite suppressant properties. Parts used of the herb: Fruit and fruit pulp. May be
helpful for people with high blood pressure.
2. Cascara Sagrada: I have used this herb as a strong stimulant and I can attest to its
effectiveness. If you want an herb to really get things moving, then this is it! Cascara
sagrada is the ultimate laxative and diuretic. It is used in herbal formulas with other
herbs, because by itself it will move things (waste) too fast! Master Herbalist Christopher
Hobbs, lists cascara sagrada as one of the safer herbal bowel tonics that can be used for
up to a month or two, in powder, tea or extract form. Buy cascara sagrada aged bark!
3. Licorice Root: If you are a snacking fanatic and just have to have something to chew on,
then some licorice sticks just may be the ticket. The Vegetarian Times suggests eating
1 to 2 sticks a day. I have opened a licorice root capsule and tasted the herb. It not
only tasted good but it was a great way to prevent habitual snacking, without adding
those dreaded calories!
4. St. John's Wort: When your over weight you might even be depressed. This herb may
have multiple uses for increasing serotonin levels in the brain and suppressing appetite.
Not to mention, it may reduce depression-related overeating!
5. Dandelion: I decided to juice this herb one day to experience it raw properties. I would
not suggest doing this, because it is too potent! I could taste how this herb jump starts
your liver and it has a reputation for being used in bitter tonics. This herb is hard-hitting
in a tincture form and should not be overlooked in your herbal medicine chest! Dandelion
has laxative properties and works as a digestive aid. Where dandelion really shines, is
enhancing fat metabolism for losing weight and cholesterol from the bloodstream before it
can be stored in the fat cells.
6. Ephedra: This herb is a metabolic stimulant and popular fat burner! I would avoid using
this herb for weight loss purposes. When I use to work in the nutrition industry, this
herb was removed from the shelves and it must be used with great caution. Native
Remedies has a better alternative to using ephedra called EcoSlim. I personally use
their products and I am impressed with their weight loss herbal formula. Capsicum
minimum (cayenne pepper) is used in their herbal formula and may help burn the fat
and increase circulation.
CAUTION: Ephedra is an all-natural amphetamine. Do not mix this herb with other
stimulants. Do not take it if you have high blood pressure, thyroid or heart disease,
diabetes or glaucoma. May cause a heart attack, dry mouth, insomnia, and stomach
upset. This is one herb I would use with the assistance of a licensed practitioner.
