Garlic: Nature's Heart Protector & Antibiotic
From seasoning your favorite dish to strong herbal
medicine, this herb is one of the most popular
herbs in the world! Even the Egyptians highly esteemed garlic and placed clay models of garlic
bulbs in the tomb of Tutankhamen, according to About.com.

John Heinerman (medical anthropologist) said
garlic is nature's own antibiotic penicillin of sorts. Benjamin Lau, M.D., Ph.D., a professor with the
Dept. of Microbiology at the Loma Linda University
School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California,
reported that an extract of garlic completely inhibited the activity and further progress of a
parasitic fungus (Coccidioides immitis). Furthermore, this deadly parasitic fungus may be
associated with some fever producing, pneumonia-like symptoms and inflamed skin lesions.
Garlic may aid in the following conditions:
1. May Prevent Blood Clots: May destroy plaque preventing atherosclerosis. Add raw
garlic to your foods and spice up your life! NATURE'S WAY garlic bulb!
2. May Reduce Hypertension: John Heinerman suggests using 2-3 capsules a day of
Nature's Way Garlicin. If you can eat cloves of garlic without losing your friends, then
that may be a good method. My grandfather lived to be 91 and chewed on a couple of
cloves of garlic almost everyday. As a matter of fact, he got me into doing it! He said
that it did lower his blood pressure and he did not need to use blood pressure medicine.
If you own a juicer, then you can put a clove in with some carrot juice. You may have
to use half a clove to start out, because it does have a bite!
CAUTION: Chewing on garlic cloves is not for everybody, so if you can cook with it, then
that may be a better alternative. The smell will repel your friends and vampires!
Garlic: Beware Vampires and Germs!
Garlic has a long history in folklore as a protector from disease and evil spirits (such as vampires). For these reasons, garlic is not only consumed as a healthy food and medicine but it is also worn to fight various ills. You could say this herb really bites!
Master Herbalist David Hoffmann, in his book "Medical Herbalism", states that the
therapeutic uses of garlic are extensive, but those specific to the cardiovascular system
include preventing atherosclerosis, reducing elevated cholesterol, preventing hypertension, improving overall blood flow and treating poor circulation to the legs. Also, Mr Hoffmann's findings report garlic to lose its antimicrobial effects during cooking, its blood pressure normalizing and cholesterol lowering actions appear to be unaffected!
Master Herbalist Christopher Hobbs, says that garlic is the the ultimate heart protector!
Also, Hobbs says that garlic may protect against stroke. This herb is a true powerhouse
and should be added to everyone's herbal medicine chest!
Yours in good health,
DeWayne H. Strickland
6. May Lower Serum Cholesterol: Consuming garlic and onions everyday may be a good
preventative measure against atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a disease affecting
arterial blood vessels. It is a chronic inflammatory response in the walls of arteries, in
large part due to the deposition of lipoproteins (plasma proteins that carry cholesterol and
triglycerides). It is commonly referred to as a "hardening" or "furring" of the arteries. It is
caused by the formation of multiple plaques within the arteries. Excerpt from Wikipedia.
7. Infection Fighter: I've learned that a combination of garlic and habanero peppers in their
raw form is super powerful! I know first hand how these two dynamic herbs can knock
out a nasty infection. The nineteenth-century scientist Louis Pasteur, used garlic juice to
kill a variety of bacteria. Today, we know that allicin and other sulfur compounds also
destroy many parasites, viruses, and fungi, including Helicobacter pylori (which causes
peptic ulcers), according to James A. Duke, Ph.D.
Garlic seems to fortify the body's natural defenses by doubling the activity of natural killer
cells in the bloodstream. A strong immune system is key to resisting infection and
removing foreign agents such as viruses, bacteria, chemicals, toxins, and abnormal cells
from the body. KYOLIC garlic with Vitamin E, cayenne, hawthorn!
3. May Increase Longevity: John Heinerman said that a prominent sociologist from the
National Institute of Aging surveyed over 8,500 centenarians (one who is 100 years old or
older) and found that they consumed a lot of garlic and onions!
4. Eliminate Worms: This is an old Amish remedy where raw garlic is consumed to rid the
body of worms. Garlic contains sulfur compounds noxious to many worms.
5. Diabetes: Garlic is considered to be strongly hypoglycemic. Garlic may help lower
blood sugar levels in diabetics. One study done in India reported the treatment of diabetic
animals with an active antioxidative compound isolated from garlic. This was almost as
effective as a prescription drug and insulin in alleviating the diabetic condition.
CAUTION: If you have low blood sugar levels John Heinerman advises to avoid garlic and
onions. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health care provider.
8. Cancer Fighter: The Mayo Clinic has reported that some studies using cancer cells in
the laboratory, as well as some studies with animals and humans, have suggested that
consuming garlic, especially raw organic garlic, might reduce the risk of stomach and
colon cancers. The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR), has reported that
two large studies, one being in China and the other in Italy, state that garlic intake was
associated with lower death rates from stomach cancer.
Garlicin CF promotes the body's overall health, especially in the cold and flu season.* Garlicin CF combines all the healthy benefits of high potencygarlic
with the added benefits of echinacea purpurea herb, ester C, opti zinc, and a bioflavonoid complex (for improved bio-availability). Each daily dose of
Garlicin CF provides 2,500 mcg of allicin and 100% of US RDA of Vitamin C
and Zinc. Garlic may not keep the Vampires away but it will do something!
An old remedy for colds is garlic and cayenne pepper combined with some chicken noodle soup! Yum, yum!
